Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is the right step?
Therapy can support you through life’s ups and downs—whether you're struggling with relationships, disconnection, purpose, identity, or grief. If you simply don't feel like yourself or need a brave and supportive space to explore these feelings, therapy might be a helpful next step.

How do I find the right therapist?
Look for someone whose experience and approach feel like a good fit—and ask yourself: Do I feel understood and comfortable here? If not, it’s completely okay to explore other options.

How should I prepare for my first session?
Bring your questions and anything that feels important—from past experiences to present challenges. Jotting down topics you’d like to discuss can help us make the most of our time together.

How often will I need to attend sessions?
It depends on you. Some clients find weekly sessions helpful at the beginning. Others prefer
bi-weekly—whatever feels manageable and aligns with your healing pace. We’ll review together as things evolve.

What does therapy cost and how can I pay?
Each 60-minute session is $200, whether you’re coming in person or virtually. I accept
e-transfer, credit card, and cash (in person only). You’ll receive a session receipt to submit to your insurer for reimbursement.

Do you direct bill insurance?
Yes, I offer direct billing through Telus Health eClaims for many insurance providers. If you're unsure whether your plan qualifies, feel free to reach out to confirm. When direct billing isn’t available, I’ll provide a receipt for you to submit for reimbursement.

Please note: Coverage varies by plan, and it's the client's responsibility to verify whether services from Canadian Certified Counsellors, Counselling Therapists, and/or Registered Psychotherapists are covered.

What if we don't click?
That’s okay—finding the right therapeutic relationship is key. If it doesn’t feel like a good match, I am more than happy to help refer you to another therapist.

Is what we talk about confidential?
Yes—our conversations are private and confidential. The only exceptions are related to legal or safety concerns, which we can review together during our consultation appointment.
